Music Monday with Michael Jackson

For today’s Music Monday post I thought that it was only right to feature the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Today marks 9 years since he passed away. It was on June 25, 2009 and he was 50 years old at the time. Michael Jackson is a name that everyone around the world knows.

He started off his career with his brothers as The Jackson 5 in 1964 and later went solo in 1971. His 1982 album Thriller is the best selling album of ALL TIME! He has had a ridiculous amount of songs on the Billboard charts, including, having Top 10 hits in 5 different decades and has been the only artist to ever do that. He started fashion trends with his red leather jacket, embellished glove, fedora, and white socks with black shoes, just to name a few. His dance moves weren’t too shabby either. The guy even created a dance move that took the world by storm and I’m pretty sure you’ve all tried it at some point in your life, yup I’m talking about the moonwalk. He has 2 stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson) and was the first celeb to have 2 stars in the same category. Hmmm what else, oh how about the fact that a week after Michael Jackson died he became the first artist to sell over a million digital tracks in a week. Oh man, there is so much to say about this guy and all his accomplishments. He was a pioneer when it came to pop music, everyone loved him and talented could not even begin to describe him.

Truth is, I could go on and on about Michael Jackson but we all know of him, who he was and the music he left behind. Let’s take a moment to remember this amazing icon and thank him for all the memories and great music. So how about we just sit back, crank the volume and enjoy the music. Here’s one of my all times faves…Beat It!

What’s your fave Michael Jackson tune? Or maybe you have a Michael Jackson memory that takes you back. Were you freaked out by the Thriller music video as much as I was as a kid? Did you walk around wearing 1 glove and a fedora? Or maybe was it that you listened to your MJ cassette so much that your tape broke?
