Mummies-To-Be you are going to LOVE this! I was recently speaking with fellow blogger and fashion guru My Haute Habit (by the way if you haven’t checked out her blog make sure you do so…she’s awesome) about maternity fashion and thought “HEY!” Why don’t I get her to write a guest blog for me? So here it is! She put together 3 different looks with tips on when dressing your prego body. Hope you enjoy it 🙂
Early Stages by hautehabit featuring j crew jewelry
This is the perfect versatile look for the early stages of pregnancy. Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you have to stop caring about style. J Brand, is one of the many denim designers that carry a huge selection of maternity jeans. Basically that means you can rock your everyday skinnies or your go-to flares even when you have a little bun in the oven!
I am loving the dark & stormy color of these skinnies because as we all know, black jeans have the added “slimming effect” – which is never a bad thing in my books.
Pair these black skinnies with a bold statement color gladiator sandal and a fabulous, loose fitting top (your belly needs to breathe!). Then slip on a few fun bangles and top off your look with a great fedora to shield your extra sensitive, baby carrying skin from the summer sun and heat.
With this look you are sure to keep sizzling all summer long!
At this point in the pregnancy you have successfully made it through the first trimester. You have battled the exhaustion, the morning sickness (hopefully not!) and the first round of crazy cravings. It is time to unveil the maxi dress!
We all can agree that pregnant or not – the maxi dress is a must have for this season. It is a simple and easy way to slip on something comfortable while still looking stylish. Always pick a fabulous pattern or stand out color. It will help to push your dress from boring boho to seriously sexy.
I recommend pairing this length with a pair of wedge sandals. You can find them in a variety of heel heights – so don’t fret if the last thing on your mind is adding inches to your soles. The wedge is a great way to feel feminine while keeping your first priority – comfort – in the forefront.
Always make sure to pair your patterned maxi with a neutral wrap, or in this case…a standard denim button up shirt. The denim adds a touch of casual which can instantly take your dress from “evening out with your hubby” back to “daytime luncheons with your ladies”. So versatile!
You also want to ensure you keep it minimal with the accessories. Try a simple color-block shopper bag with a great pair of cat-eye shades in a neutral shade. This will ensure your dress and baby bump are the center of attention!
It is almost time. You have had a full 9 months and you are ready to burst at any moment. No woman in the world wants to think about style let alone trying to bend over to tie a shoe. Enter….velcro.
If you haven’t heard – it is back. In a big way (thank you Isabel Marant!). Sneakers are a girls best friend especially if you are carrying a 9 month baby in your belly. So slip your tooties into a comfy pair of sweet sneaks. Instant cool factor.
Pair the sneakers with a long, stretchy (yes please!) black skirt and an oversize, chunky, cable-knit sweater in a bright color. A wide brim hat adds an instant infusion of style and a nothing says rock’n’roll cool like an over-the-shoulder, metal zipper Wang bag. If you are feeling extra risky – add a skull scarf or a neon crystal necklace.
No question…you will get the sexy, stylish mommy of the year award!
