Guest Blog Written By: Ashley Machado from The Mutts KitchenI am sooo guilty of being an impulse buyer! I do use most of the items I buy, but hubby seems to differ in thought. Recently, I reactivated my Costco membership. Had to stay away for awhile because we would easily spend $200-$400 plus at every visit. I understand the logic of “bulk buying” and saving, the issue is buying what you “want” vs what you “need”.
When shopping a few weeks ago, a Blendtec representative was showcasing their “Costco Model” and I instantly fell in love. ? Whoever thought of the “hot or soup” function is an absolute genius! The blender was on sale for $379.99 and yes I bought it. Haven’t questioned my purchase once! *Hubby wasn’t very happy. His first question was “don’t you have a working blender though”? No hunny, my old blender doesn’t do what this guy does. ?
I promised hubby that I’d put this hottie to use daily. I love making my smoothies but holy smokes, this guy makes the greatest “hot” beverages ever…without having to heat your concoction on the stovetop. He also works his magic without having to “stop” it. It’s programmed with a timer!
A few days ago, hubby asked if I wanted to go for a coffee run. “Babe, I have a better idea. I am going to make us a Caramel Machado…never mind the macchiato”! Let’s just say, he was impressed. Only problem is, he asks me to make him one for his morning drive now…at 6 in the freakin’ morning. ?
CARMEL “MACHADO”
Recipe by: Ashley Machado
Serves: 4 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 7 minutes
Replace the overrated and expensive caramel macchiatos with this homemade replica. Sweet, comforting and delicate! It kicks those cravings to the curb. Control your sugar and calorie intake with this version.
Ingredients:
14 oz hot brewed espresso (Lavazza Crema e Aroma)
14 oz 2% milk
3 tbsp Nestle Rich Chocolate Powder
2-3 tbsp Smucker’s Caramel Syrup
1 tbsp agave syrup (if you like it sweeter)
Whipped cream topping
Direction:
1. Add all the ingredients into a Blendtec or Vitamix blender. Blend using the “hot or soup” function. *You may need to do this twice to get a hotter temperature. If you do not have the heating function on your blender, heat on stove top in a pot until desired temperature.
2. Dispense into mugs and add whipped cream. Drizzle with caramel.
Enjoy Mammas 🙂
