It’s no big secret that I’m a HUGE, MASSIVE, INSANE, Pearl Jam fan! Maybe it’s my poster collection, the glass cabinet I have filled with Pearl Jam memorabilia or maybe it’s my tattoos that give it away hahaha ;). So, it’s pretty much a given that if the band is touring and has a show close to home I’m there. I did it before kids and vowed that I wouldn’t stop after kids either.
Earlier this week the guys kicked off their North American tour for their new album Lightning Bolt (which is due out this coming Tuesday…October 15th) and yesterday they played in Buffalo, NY. With no Ontario shows for this tour this was going to be the closest to home and so it was a no brainer for me, tickets were a must!
As I was getting ready for my little road trip yesterday (without hubby and the girls) I couldn’t help but laugh as I realized just how much my life has changed from just a few years back. Before it was grab some cash, I.D., cell phone, get in the car and go…well not any more lol. It was a full blown out production yesterday, get the breast pump ready (cuz as a breast feeding Mamma it’s either you leave home with baby or the pump), wash the bottles, get the cooler ready (cuz you need somewhere to put the milk after you pump), ice packs (yup breast milk on the rocks is how we roll around here haha), and feed the baby one last time before leaving (try to get all that milk out before walking out the door). I finally managed to leave with bags and my passport in hand (keep in mind this was a day trip…not an over night trip) and by the time I got behind the wheel I was exhausted!
Not even 5 minutes into my drive I was already starting to miss my little ones and at the same time I was super stoked to know that I was on my way to see my fave band in concert (even though I just saw them this past July). Everything I do these days always involve my girls and so it was nice to have a date night with just me and Pearl Jam :). But, of course the first thing I did when I got there was hit the merch table to pick up onesies for Sam and Lily (and my poster ;))…c’mon how could I not? One of Samantha’s favourite songs is Got Some…I shit you not haha.
It was definitely a great and well deserved night out! I got to hear some of my faves like Low Light, Immortality, State of Love and Trust, Rearview Mirror, Baba O-Riley (Who cover) and a few others plus some stuff off of the new Lighting Bolt album (I’m not a huge fan of this one but who knows you might be). It was just awesome to be in great company listening to great music. Got home around 3am and slept for about 4 hours before girls came to wake me up. I’m a walking Zombie today but I wouldn’t want it any other way ;)!
