Sonia Faienza Gilfillan
March 29, 1977 – July 6, 2013
Last night before heading to bed I decided to check my email and it was then that I learned about the passing of one of our Chic Mammas, Sonia Faienza Gilfillan (36). I didn’t know Sonia personally but reading about how this young mother of 2 boys (Aedan Leonardo and Amedeo Liam) had past away Saturday night just broke my heart. As a mother of 2 myself and close in age to Sonia I could not help but put myself in her shoes. She will never be able to hold her boys again, kiss them goodnight, tuck them in, wipe the tears from their eye, make their boo boos all better, see them graduate, get married, start families of their own and list goes on and on. And for her boys Aedan (4) and Amedeo (1) all they will have are memories, if that because they are so young. It’s absolutely heart wrenching! I can’t begin to imagine the heart ache and pain that her family is going through right now and sadly there’s not much anyone can do to take that pain away.
I had the chance to speak to some people who knew Sonia and they had nothing but beautiful things to say about her. I got to see it first hand through the comments she would make in our facebook group. It was said best by her sister in-law Josie Gilfillan “Sonia was not only my sister in-law but my best friend. She was a beautiful person inside and out, always showing love and care to everyone around her. She was an amazing mom, loving wife and a great friend. I will miss her.”.
So goodbye Sonia, may you find peace, love and happiness where you are now and may your husband (Adamo) and boys find comfort in knowing that you are with them in spirit and watching out for them as their angel. To the entire Faienza and Gilfillan family, I would like to offer you my heart felt condolences on behalf of all the Chic Mammas. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Josie said it well – Sonia was truly a beautiful person, inside and out. Her passing is a tragedy for everyone who kew her. Her three boys are blessed with having experienced her love. Sonia loved them passionately. She was an incredible mother and she has left her mark on her sons, as young as they are . As you mentioned, they now have their own angel looking out for them.
