It seems like everyone you speak with these days is either pregnant or just had a baby, I’m convinced it’s a 50 Shades of Grey baby boom haha! I just had my second daughter 2 months ago and having been though it twice now I must say the most annoying thing about making that visit to the hospital is packing those bags. Everyone is telling you to bring this, bring that, you get confused and even if you’ve been through it before you can’t remember what you need, what you’ll use and what was a total waste. This is where I come in 🙂 I’m here to try and make things a little easier for you with this handy list of your MUST HAVE items when packing your hospital bags.
What to pack for the Chic Mamma:
- Wallet with Health Card, Hospital Card and any other important identification you may need
- Slippers or Flip Flops
- Nursing PJ’s or Night Gown* (go with something comfortable and take into account if you are having a vaginal birth or c-section)
- Bathrobe*
- Socks
- Comfy change of clothes*
- Nursing Bra(s)*
- Breast Pads
- Depends (yup, I said Depends! Trust me, do it and you’ll love me for it! It’s much better than mesh panties and maxi pads)
- Hair Clips or Ties
- Nipple Cream
- Lip Balm
- Toothbush
- Toothpaste
- Hair Brush
- Deodorant
- Shampoo and Conditioner (if you plan to shower at the hospital)

- Camera and charger

- Diaper Cream
- Baby Shampoo & Wash (if you want to use your own)
- Onesies
- PJ’s

Hi,
How many diapers and onesies should I pack per day approx? If I have a natural birth, how many days are we in the hospital??? Thanks! M
Chic Mamma says
Hi Michele!
Diapers I would bring a pack with you or a good combo of NB and Size 1 (depending the weight of your baby). Onesies I would pack 2 per day just incase of any accidents…you probably would be good with 1 per day but it’s always better to have more than need and not have on hand 🙂
Good Luck!
